Like everyone else who uses email I get all kinds of stuff come into my Inbox and most of it just ends up in the Trash. But earlier this month an email came through that grabbed my attention. There was a little girl that needed a bone marrow transplant and her best hope was for her grand-father to make a marrow donation.
The trouble was no-one knew where he was or if he was still alive. All they knew was that he had a Rhodesian connection and so they contacted us in the hope we could help. We, in turn, simply passed that request on to you and you responded in such an over whelming manner that the original person making the request was simply blown away! He could not believe the outpouring of assistance, prayers and encouragement. My comment to him was "Welcome to the Rhodesian Community!"
I am glad to say that this is a story with a happy ending. The grand-father was found in time and made the marrow donation. The prognosis for the girl is good. Her family have asked that I pass on their thanks for all the help that YOU gave. And I too thank you. Once again, for a brief moment, the Rhodie community rose to the situation and came through with Colors flying.

TULI REVISITED
Tuli has a very definite place in the history of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. This is where the Column crossed into Lobengula's country. The site of the first Fort established by the BSAC.
This month we take a look at some of the original pictures and get an update on Tuli when it was revisited by a former BSAP member earlier this month.

Latest News from Zimbabwe
Memories of Rhodesia is committed to supporting those old-age pensioners that are economic prisoners in Zimbabwe. 10% of our revenue goes to this cause. Working with Hope Unlimited, an established Christian organization, 100% of all monies are channeled through them. The funds are then donated to SOAP, which is doing a great job caring for the aged. The reports we get back from Zimbabwe are extremely encouraging, knowing that we (and that includes you) have kept some of our dear old folk alive.
Thanks to your generosity we were able to send a goodly amount to Zimbabwe this month. We appreciate the way that so many of you have responded and continue to support this worthy cause.

Formed in 1916 as The Rhodesia Native Regiment, its Shona and Ndebele troops were blooded with honour in the East African campaign, pitted against the wily General von Lettow-Vorbeck and his German Askaris Disbanded in 1919, the regiment was re-formed in 1940 during World War II as The Rhodesian African Rifles, seeing action in Egypt and Burma. In the 1950s, the regiment distinguished itself further during the Malayan Emergency.
