Summer has arrived in all it's glory and this year is turning into one of the nicest summer seasons we have had on the East Coast of the USA, for a long time. Plenty of rain to make things grow, sun to dry things out and cool winds to keep it bearable. I don't what happened to global warming, but in this part of the world it is absent.
I was looking for something pithy and came across this quote: "People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. If I lived in <...> I don't think I'd care what the weather was like!" I know that time dims memory, but I do seem to remember being happy back in Rhodesia despite the weather! And, like most everyone else, we have made a new life in another country and are happy here too. We can never go back to what was, except in our memories - to that happy time; of the summer heat, the rainy season, the long dry winters - all that made that land between the Zambesi and Limpopo a great place.
With that in mind, don't forget to visit the Rhodesian Memories section. Our goal is to post something new on a regular basis, so please keep visiting and contributing to it. We have built of a lot of the site as photo albums, so please be patient with some of the longer connection and download speeds. We believe the wait will be worth it. Please, feel free to share your Memories, photographs, stories or more with us.
With the financial crisis gripping the world we have seen support for the Pensioners drop off, yet the need still remains. Please, would you consider making a donation (no amount is too small) to the continuing needs of the old people. The relief efforts are also being effected, so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. We now have several years worth of The Herald available in an electronic format, with even more still being converted. As they are delivered to us we are making them available for purchase for a small fee. If you are looking for that unique birthday or anniversary present, how about a copy of the newspaper from that day? I get enthralled as I look at the days unfolding headlines and reliving again history as it developed on a daily basis. They are well worth the visit just to see the headlines and events unfold.

Latest News from Zimbabwe
Memories of Rhodesia is committed to supporting those old-age pensioners that are economic prisoners in Zimbabwe. 10% of our revenue goes to this cause. Working with Hope Unlimited, an established Christian organization, 100% of all monies are channeled through them. The funds are then donated to SOAP, which is doing a great job caring for the aged. The reports we get back from Zimbabwe are extremely encouraging, knowing that we (and that includes you) have kept some of our dear old folk alive.
