This weekend saw the USA switch from Daylight Savings Time back to Standard Time. By a single act of The United States Congress, time changed by one hour. Yet somehow I slept through it and didn't feel any different when I woke up. If only time really could be changed by such a declaration of the politically self-important! What a scary thought. But, just as time cannot be rolled back, neither can it be rolled forward.
We can look back at what was and, hopefully, derive some lesson for the future. The "whenwe" is easy to turn into "what if", just as the "told you so", but it can never change what was. One of the things I have found to hold steady over the years is the wonderful ability of the Rhodesian to mount up over their circumstances. That ability to "make a plan" and find success where other can't. Someone once asked me "how are you able to do so much?" to which my reply was "I'm Rhodesian!"
I am blessed to talk with so many Rhodies of all races around the world who found themselves in strange lands, starting with nothing, forged new lives for themselves and their families. Whilst we now might be American, Australian, Kiwi, Brits or whatever, there still remains the fact that we also Rhodesian. As someone once pointed out to me - there is no such thing as an ex-Rhodesian.
No event had a greater effect on the psyche of the nation than UDI. On November 11th we will mark the 45th Anniversary of that fateful day in 1965 when Ian Smith and the Cabinet signed the Declaration. For the next 15 years that tiny nation dominated the world political stage. It's been 30 years since Rhodesia politically ceased to exist, yet despite Mugabe's best efforts to rewrite history, Rhodesia's legacy still lives on.
Christmas is fast approaching and plans are being made for family gatherings, in some cases family vacations but for so many of our Pensioners it is a matter of daily survival. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you $13,500 so far this year has gone to a number of organizations helping the Pensioners. Please consider making a donation to helping this cause. 100% of all funds are passed on.

PENSIONERS UPDATE
Memories of Rhodesia is committed to supporting those old-age pensioners that are economic prisoners in Zimbabwe. 10% of our revenue goes to this cause. Working with Hope Unlimited, an established Christian organization, 100% of all monies are channeled through them.
The funds are then donated to various organizations, who are doing a great job caring for the aged.
